Would you pay for more STUFF?

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

Here’s a concept I’m having trouble understanding (at least from a business perspective):

The Something Store

Pay $10, and get something delivered to your door. Something. Could be anything. We’re trying to get RID of STUFF in our house, so this concept is astounding. Apparently they’re selling nearly 16k a month in product if their stats and my math are right. I’m not sure what the profit margin would be… by the time you pull out shipping, there’s not much profit left unless you’re getting the stuff dirt cheap.

Anyway, end rant. Just thought I’d share the silliness.

Another day in the life

One more YouTube parent’s a day in the life song. I love it. Thanks Angie!

Busy busy busy

I know, I know… I was so good at posting last month, and now what happened?!? I promise to try to get a new post up soon.

In the meantime, one of my MayMommy friends sent me a link to this video and it’s incredible. I laughed. Then I cried. Then I copied the link to share with you.

This is an amazing article… actually, I’m sure I would’ve walked right by too:

On a side note, Josh Groban is coming to Seattle in August and I can’t find anyone to go with me!

There is a reason for everything…

I’m grateful today that I did not get the Software Testing job I interviewed for last year here:

http://www.nextomt.com

Because their parent company and, at the time, sole customer, was MILA (see next link).

Please pray for our teachers!

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003670872_layoffs18m.html

Our school district may be cutting 50 teaching jobs!

Please pray that the following will be the case:

“Edmonds, the state’s 12th-largest school district, hopes to reduce its work force through attrition rather than layoffs. Typically, the district hires about 100 teachers each year to replace those who have retired or resigned.”

Christian’s teacher is very low on the seniority list, but she is the most wonderfully caring, energetic, flexible teacher and it would be such a huge loss if her contract is not renewed. She has gone way out of her way to help Christian be successful this year and to work with us to help him in any way we can as well. Please keep her and others like her in your prayers.

Advocare

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

In other news, I recently ran across Advocare, a nutritional supplement company. Normally, not my thing at all. In this case, a nurse friend became a distributor and I decided to read all about it and give the products a try. I decided to let Christian try the kids’ Spark drink, which is supposed to increase focus. In just this week, he reports doing better in school (in fact, he earned the privelege of sitting at a table with other kids again instead of at his solo desk). Meanwhile, I’m trying the Energy MNS. I haven’t been sleeping great, but I don’t feel it. I’m not feeling nearly as worn out as last week (even though this has been an awful week at work). I’ve also lost 4 pounds this week. We’re off to a good start, and looking forward to trying some of the other products.www.AdvoCare.com/0702290

Future schools?

This is an interesting article. I’m not sure I’d trust Microsoft to completely design a school from the ground up, but the implementation does sound really interesting.
