Talking about Seattle Post-Intelligencer: AP – High-Tech

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

Ok, this is sad to say… I interviewed for a new job earlier this month and the most exciting part about the job was the company provided tablet PC. I WANT ONE! Sadly, it appears that I did not get the job (there were other really great aspects of the job too), and I can’t justify buying one for myself when I A) have a perfectly good laptop and B) don’t typically use applications that are well suited to the tablet format. Oh well. End whine 🙂

Talking about Seattle Post-Intelligencer: AP – Washington, D.C.: Daylight-saving time extended by a month

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

Ok, I have to throw a small fit about this… I absolutely do not understand how on earth extending daylight savings time ‘would adversely affect livestock’. Last time I looked, livestock didn’t wear watches. Can anyone explain this to me?

I don’t think I have anything really exciting to say today. The bbq Tuesday night was nice. No engagement, just an evening wth nothing else to do. Never count on me to predict anything accurately LOL.

Yesterday was nice. Andrew took the boys out to a softball game and McDonalds, and Bill did some recording, so it was just Alyson and I (and she goes to bed early anyway). I got to watch Office Space for the first time in a long time 🙂 The boys had a blast!

Christian is looking forward to having his special day with Grandma Julie tomorrow. They’re going to go hiking… what fun! Brandon had his special day last week… they had McDonalds lunch at the park and went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I think the boys have had a really fun summer. I’m taking my birthday off work next Tuesday and I think I’m going to take them to go do something. I’m just not sure what yet. I have to have them back in time for swimming at 4.

It’s been too HOT this week… I know it’s summer, but I’ll be really happy when it’s in the 70s every day instead of the 80s. I shouldnt’ complain, though, with so much of the country in much more extreme heat than us.

Talking about komo news | Ken Schram : Odds And Ends

I thought this idea for re-doing the viaduct was brilliant!

komo news | Ken Schram : Odds And Ends

Number 3: How about that tunnel they found under the U.S./Canadian border?

I’ve got an idea: Instead of prosecuting the people who dug it, I think the City of Seattle should hire them.

I mean, if these people could build something like that for what I bet was not a whole lot of money, I’ve got only one word for you: Viaduct!

New beginnings…

Ok, so I’m finally trying this blog thing. I hope it will help me keep a record of what’s going on… every day flies by so fast.

Christian… I can’t believe he’s 6 already. He’s getting so tall. He has been really enjoying his swimming lessons. We’ll find out tomorrow if he passed to the next level, but we suspect not. That’s ok… for a kid that just started swim lessons a month ago, we think he’s doing great! Christian is looking forward to daycamp in a few weeks. It’s a bit scary, sending him off with strangers, but it sounds like a fun program. He’ll get to spend a day with the Everett Aquasox. I love that he is learning to read. Every now and then, he writes me a note that says, ‘For Mome I luv u Christian’ What a sweetheart.

Brandon… This kid has so much energy I just don’t know what to do with him sometimes. He scares me, the way he bursts around. I’m afraid he’ll hurt someone. At 3 1/2, he never stops. He can be very dramatic too. He desperately wants to help take care of Alyson, but he smothers her. The good news is that he is very loving. He also is doing great at swimming. I was worried for a while… I thought he’d never put his head under the water. Suddenly last week he got it! I am SO proud of him! We weren’t going to sign him up for August classes, but now that he’s gotten some momentum going, I think we’d better sign him up after all.

Alyson…

Well, Alyson’s info will have to wait for later. I just spent the last half hour upstairs with the kids. Darling boys managed to break their floor fan (something about trying to see out the window). When I got up there, the light was on, all three kids were awake and staring at their fan… in half… face down on the floor and still going. Great fun. Now Alyson is screaming because she is so tired. Let’s hope she goes to sleep soon so I can go to bed.
