Christian’s Reflections

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

The annual PTA Reflections contest theme this year was ‘My Favorite Place’. Tonight was the Art Walk, where we could go see all of the entries. Much to our surprise, Christian’s photography project received the blue ribbon Award of Excellence! The other two pictures in his division were very nicely taken and matted. Christian’s was a collage of lots of pictures of the skate park, all cut oddly and arranged at different angles. Apparently the judge liked his creativity and that they weren’t all going the same direction. We’re very proud 🙂

Answers to prayers

I don’t know if I’ve written this, but we’re facing a change in our child care situation July 1. Child care is amazingly expensive. I discovered that we are $1,000 per month short whether I work and the kids go to daycare or I don’t work and stay home with them. So I met with my boss and told her it was very possible I would need to quit July 1. I’d much rather be home and be here for the kids, and have the opportunity to build my business, than try to make up that $1,000 by working an insane number of hours (which I feel like I’m already doing).

This $1,000/month thing has definitely had me worried and praying… and guess what? In the time since we found out about this, I have been relatively bombarded with business. 10/20 I picked up a new bookkeeping cleanup client (in general a one-time thing, but could turn into something more later). 10/27 I had a tax consult/bookkeeping/payroll appointment, which looks like may at least be weekly payroll and business tax prep. 11/3 I have a tax appointment. Today I just booked tax consult appointments for 11/8 and 11/10.

Needless to say, I’m feeling confident that staying home is what I’m supposed to do.
